The Letter M

One of Evan’s favorite toys he got for his birthday was a magna doodle. He loves drawing and erasing. We often draw something and he will tell us what it is. We were surprised when he drew the letter M the other day and proudly exclaimed, “Evan draw letter M”.

What a Difference a Year Makes

Jill and I are amazed at how much Evan has changed in the past year. There is such a difference between one and two. Evan has grown 7 1/2 inches and has gained 5 pounds between his one year and two year doctor appointments. At one he was clapping, crawling, pulling himself up to stand, saying duck, and recognizing some words we said. Now he walks, runs, and climbs. I actually think he may have forgotten how to walk because these days he is running everywhere. He links words together in sentences. Often the sentence begins with “Evan…” “Evan go to the park” “Evan give Peep a huggyboo” “Evan want more pizza please” Just recently he started asking questions like what’s that. He sings constantly. He knows the uppercase letters to the alphabet, the colors, and can count to 20 when he wants to (the key words being wants to).
We are looking forward to seeing how he grows in the next year.

Happy 2nd Birthday Evan

For Evan's actual birthday this year we trekked back to Cape May one more time to meet up with all of Evan's grandparents. We took a horse drawn carriage ride around Cape May one day - Evan loved the "clip clop" of the horse.

On his birthday we sang, ate cake and opened presents. Evan has had so much practice by now that he told us all exactly what to do and when. "Time to sing happy birthday to EVAN!". "Blow out candles". "Eat the cake!".

It was great having all the grandparents together with Evan in one place on his birthday.

We spent the rest of the trip relaxing. We went to the beach and visited an Alpaca farm.

Having all Evan's grandparents around was such a special way to spend his second birthday. Thanks everyone for making it happen!

Evan's first day of preschool

Evan had his first day of preschool today at the Magnolia Co-operative preschool. This year he and Jill go one day per week to play and learn. Although the sign says there are opening for 3's 4/5's and Pre-K, there is a waiting list 100+ people long for the class that Evan is in. Good job Jill for getting on the wait list when he was one month old!

Evan's Second Birthday Extravaganza

We celebrated Evan's second birthday a week early this year in Seattle because we are traveling to Cape May to meet up with all the Grandparents for Evan's actual birthday. Even though we haven't moved in, we had the party at our new house in Magnolia. Our guests were greeted with this welcoming sign:

Evan's friends played around all over our back yard with a water table, beans, bikes, bubbles, a slide and more!

Evan's favorite part of his party was when everyone sang happy birthday to him. Evan sang along and blew out his candle.

Next up: cake.

After everyone went home, Evan opened up his presents.

Thanks to everyone who came and made Evan's second birthday so special for the three of us.
