Sesame Place

The three of us headed out to Cape May to visit Grandma and Grandpa last week but found time to sneak away for a day and headed to Sesame Place. For those who don't know it's a Sesame Street theme park filled with some of Evan's favorite characters and tons of rides and activities. Evan met a bunch of his favorite people while we were there -- Elmo, Abby, Grover, and of course Ernie and Bert.

Evan was so excited to meet Elmo that we went to see him twice. The first time we waited in line for 15 minutes and when Evan was the next person in line Elmo went on break for 10 minutes. Evan was heartbroken. We waited for him to return as the rest of the line left to return another time. Evan's patience was rewarded when Elmo returned though. He could barely contain himself.

We went on a bunch of rides. Here Evan and I are on the "bouncy ride".

And here's Evan in the big bouncy house.

The big surprise was how much he loved "climbing Cookie Mountain".

There is also a water park and Evan loved splashing around (it made the fact that it was raining part of the time way more bearable).

Evan can't stop talking about our trip. He wants to go back again real soon.

June in Cape May

Even though we left 30 straight days of sunshine in Seattle for a bunch of rain in Cape May we still had an absolute blast. Evan was greeted by Cookie Monster and a plate of oatmeal raisin cookies.

He played in the fountains at the mall (actually he soaked his head!) so it didn't matter much that it was drizzling.

He helped Grandpa fish on the beach.

And he helped Grandma cook desert (the perennial favorite peanut butter ice cream pie).

I think Evan's favorite thing was going to the boardwalk. He rode all the rides he was tall enough for and had some great snacks as well.

By far my favorite part was Evan driving the bumper cars!

We did so much that there was no way we could fit all the great pictures in this post. There are a bunch more pictures of our trip here - click if you'd like to see them! Here's a parting shot for you of everyone (except me) on the beach.

An early Father's day

Since we're all going to be out of town next week on vacation Jill and Evan decided to do Father's day a week early this year. We decided to go to Remlinger Farms to pick strawberries.

There may indeed be strawberries there but we didn't see any other than the big one on this truck. Instead we were pleasantly greeted by a small amusement park!

Evan loved playing in the old fire truck and school bus.

He went in a boat ride and loved it - for about 15 seconds - until the plastic ducks came up behind him and scared him! Take a look closely at the second picture to see one unhappy Evan.

Evan loved the roller coaster so much we went on it twice. He kept screaming "Weee!" and waving to Jill.

In a rare moment of rest, here he is sitting on the hay outside the hay maze.

Evan and Jill got my Father's day presents last week and Evan was so excited that he kept telling me all week what they were.

I had a fantastic father's day this year - thanks Jill and Evan!

It's finally summertime

We suffer through long rainy (and this year snowy) winters for just a few months of sunshine but it's fantastic when it arrives. For the past month now the weather has been fantastic. We've been eating outside on the porch and taking Evan on a lot of picnics. Here's Evan relaxing with his apple juice at Gasworks park.

The Bubble Machine

A few weeks ago we got Evan a bubble machine and it's proven to be a big hit. He loves spending time in the back yard running around through the bubbles and trying to catch them.
