Just like daddy?

One of my favorite things to do is get a new computer and it looks like Evan likes it too! It's Jill's turn to get a new laptop and Evan decided to help me open up the box.

Evan has been looking shaggy for a bit now so Jill took him to get his second haircut earlier this week. I just thought I'd share the before and after shots...

One keyboard and no mouse

Just this week Evan has been coming into our office over and over again and there's nothing we can do to keep him out. As it turns out, all he wants to do is type. Why? Got me! As long as he's happy.

Evan's First Phone Call

For the past few months Evan has been fascinated with phones. He picks up his toy phones, our house phone, and sometimes even stuffed animals, holds them to his ear, and says "Hello?". Given all this interest you think he'd be a natural to actually talk on the phone, but whenever he's handed a phone with someone on the other end not a peep comes out of his mouth. Yesterday it all changed. Jill gave Evan the phone to talk to me and I got a "Hello", and a bit later "Daddy". I asked him questions I knew he had a response for. "What's a horse say?" "Neigh!" "What's an owl say?" "Hoot hoot hoot". Then I got a "bye bye bye". It was fantastic. He didn't talk the next time I called, but I bet before too long I won't be able to keep him off the phone.

Happy 2008 everyone! 2007 was of Evan's first full year and I think he made the most of it. Here are some of his accomplishments for 2007:

• Sleeps consistently through the entire night
• Gained 10 pounds
• Grew 5 inches
• Traveled through Washington, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, New Jersey and Delaware
• Learned to roll, crawl and walk
• Learned to say a whole bunch of words
• Progressed from milk to baby food to 100% people food
• His car seat now faces forwards

As you can see Evan was super busy in '07 and we expect the same in '08. We hope all of you have a great 2008 as well.

My Calendar

Evan's present to his grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, and uncles this year was a calendar of himself. Every month of 2007 we went out and took an appropriately themed picture of Evan. He ranges in age in the pictures from 4 months (January 2007) to 15 months (December 2007). Last year at this time neither Evan nor us realized how much work it would be to get a good themed picture each month. Needless to say Evan will not be making a 2009 calendar. We do think our efforts paid off. Take a look for yourselves.
