Evan's First Phone Call

For the past few months Evan has been fascinated with phones. He picks up his toy phones, our house phone, and sometimes even stuffed animals, holds them to his ear, and says "Hello?". Given all this interest you think he'd be a natural to actually talk on the phone, but whenever he's handed a phone with someone on the other end not a peep comes out of his mouth. Yesterday it all changed. Jill gave Evan the phone to talk to me and I got a "Hello", and a bit later "Daddy". I asked him questions I knew he had a response for. "What's a horse say?" "Neigh!" "What's an owl say?" "Hoot hoot hoot". Then I got a "bye bye bye". It was fantastic. He didn't talk the next time I called, but I bet before too long I won't be able to keep him off the phone.
