Evan loves popsicles. He tries to get one at least once per day, and when our sitter comes over he barrages her with requests until she eventually gives in and gives him one.
Jill got Evan a subscription to a kids magazine and the first issue arrived just in time for our flight to Philadelphia. Evan loved reading through the stories. His favorite article was the one that taught him how to make his own popsicles. He asked me every day if we could make our own when we got home. Finally the day arrived. We got strawberries and yogurt, put them in the blender, poured the mix into small paper cups and put sticks in.
The hardest part was of course waiting for the next evening to eat them. When the time did come, I think he took real pride in eating his creation. I wonder what we'll be cooking next month!

Shore Part Two
Boy was it hot during our second trip to Cape May this summer! But even the heat couldn't stop Evan from having a good time. I think the heat may be one of the things that helped Evan warm up to going in the ocean. During our first trip Evan was very tentative and didn't go into the ocean much at all. By the end of this week though he was much more comfortable and was going in and out of the water all day long.
He loved throwing rocks into the water and spent entire afternoons throwing balls into the waves at the baby beach, chasing after them when they came back onto shore.
Here he is with Grandpop plotting throwing some shells into the water.
When he wasn't running into the water he was running (and yes, he was basically running the entire week) along the beach in search of "holes". This was perhaps his biggest (and deepest) find.
We had a blast and can't wait to return next summer.

Trolls
Lately Evan has been into (and scared of) trolls. We decided to take him to see the friendly troll under the 99 bridge in Fremont. Evan was amazed at how gigantic he was and wanted nothing more than to climb all over him. We were able to dissuade him form climbing with the promise of some ice cream. Here he is with his new friend.
A plethora of pancakes
Last Sunday Evan wanted pancakes for breakfast, so we made some. He had a hard time making up his mind as to exactly what kind of pancakes he wanted so we made a bunch. Here he is with his plates of mini pancakes, regular pancakes and blueberry pancakes.
Magnolia festival
Last weekend, Magnolia (the "suburb" of Seattle where we live) had a summer fair. Evan had a blast going down all the big bouncy house slides, riding around in a trackless train and riding the ponies.

Our Plum Tree
In our front yard close to where we park our cars we have a plum tree. Evan has been looking at them for weeks but they're just getting ripe enough to eat. We went outside tonight and gathered up a bunch, washed them off and ate them. They're pretty good actually! Here is Evan washing them off.
