We're about to fire the cleaning lady

For as long as I can remember Jill and I have never been able to find a cleaning person/service that we thought did a good job. We have been looking for years but our search may now be over. Evan has become absolutely infatuated with vacuuming. It is absolutely his favorite thing to do every day. We even got him his own little vacuum to push around (it's way more manageable than our big one). Every so often he takes a break and lets The Peep vacuum. Here he is, busy cleaning up our condo.

A weekend with Evan and Daddy

This past weekend Jill went away with a few of her friends for a yoga retreat and Evan and I spent the weekend alone together. We weren't really alone. Dave, Vincent, Evan and Liam were also without wives/mommies so we hung out together at a Bar B Que at Dave's house on Friday. Evan and I also met up with our old friends Joe and Laura and their two children Joey and Anabelle at the Children's Museum. We had a blast. As the day went on however, Evan got a bit cranky and decided not to want to sleep at all Friday night. He wouldn't go to sleep in his crib so after a few hours of trying I just took him in the bed with me and he passed out.

On Saturday we played together in the morning and I had a babysitter in the afternoon for a bit of a daddy break (golf with friends). I got home expecting Evan to be asleep, but he was still awake! Our sitter let me know Evan had no interest in going to sleep (this had never happened before to her). Much like on Friday evening I tried and tried to get him to bed but he wouldn't go - so he wound up in my bed again.

Sunday morning we stayed at home waiting for Comcast to show up to fix our Internet (they never showed up, pinning us in the condo between 8am and 1pm). Evan also refused to go for a nap on Sunday instead choosing to play in his crib. Boy were we both happy to see Mommy's face walk in the door at 5:30! Jill was able to put Evan to sleep and return a bit or normalcy to our lives.

I'm not entirely sure what transpired this weekend but in between the fits and no-sleep Evan and I did have a good time. I'm up to give this another try because I want to do better next time, so Jill, it's time to plan another mini vacation!

Here we are together during happier times :)

Not Again

It has been pretty miserable here at the Demsey house. On Friday Evan got the stomach flu, which means a grouchy toddler, tired parents, and countless loads of laundry. In the thick of it all, on Saturday Evan took a nose dive from his crib which resulted in more stains on the rug (blood) and very worried parents. Evan's illness lingered through Sunday. He is beginning to feel better today.

Below is a picture of how Evan spent a lot of time this weekend. Note how bright yellow the Peep looks. He was one Evan's many casualties and was fresh out of the dryer when this picture was taken.

4th of July in Park City

Evan, Jill and I went to Park City this 4th of July to meet up with all of my family. During the day we saw the Park City 4th of July parade. Here is Evan clapping at one of the floats that drove by.

Later that evening we went out on the golf course and saw the fireworks (Jill and I also saw fireworks the night before at the Rodeo!).

Jill and I were happily surprised by how patriotic everyone was in Utah. Lots of singing and saluting the flag. What a great way to spend the 4th!

Trip to Park City

The three of us went to Park City over the long weekend to celebrate the 4th of July with my entire family. Outside of the 4th of July celebration we had time to do a bunch of other fun things. At the base of Park City mountain in the summer is a area with a few kids rides and an alpine slide. We took Evan up his first chairlift and down the big slide. He loved it and wanted to go "again! again!". Here he is riding the lift.

And here he is going down the slide with me.

On Saturday went to a party over by my parent's house. Here is Evan with B painting a wooden snake.

Before we all left to go home we tried to take a family picture with all of us and what you see below was as good as it got. Evan kept running back and forth across the picture chasing Cody.
