Pumpkin Carving

It was time to carve the jack-o-lanterns and my expectations were low.  Set by our previous experiences  where I was told it was "too slimy to put my hands in" I didn't expect much.  To my surprise we had a crew willing to reach inside, scoop out guts and go head to head with mommy in deciding how he should look.  Next year I dare say people may get to do their own carving.

Ok, I was wrong... One more farm.

Ok, I forgot that we decided to take everyone -- including all the grandparents -- to one more farm.  This was a good one though -- one we've been to before.  Everyone had a blast.  Even the grandparents were going through the rope mazes and feeding the goats.

Happy Third Birthday Alexis

Today was Alexis's third birthday.  It seems like she just joined us and that the three years went by lightning fast.  We survived the terrible twos (mostly) but I'm already seeing concrete signs that 3 is the new 2.  We were lucky enough to have both sets of grandparents join us for this special day.

Here's the birthday princess in her crown and cape at the reading of her birthday story.

Then it was time for presents and cake.

Happy third birthday Alexis.

How does a Cat clean itself?

Ask Alexis and she'll tell you - and show you - as someone did at her class halloween party.

So a fireman and a kitty kat walk up to a house...

Guess who's going as a cat and a cop for Halloween this year?

They look even better with face paint, courtesy of a Vienna Mom's pre-party before the Vienna Halloween parade.

Guess who was holding the group banner!

One Last Farm

I can't believe it but we actually went to one more farm.  It's good to try new things but this place wasn't the greatest.  Despite that we still managed to have a good time.

That's all for farms this year!

Vienna Oktoberfest

Every October our town holds an Oktoberfest with food, music, and a few rides for the kids.  Last year it was raining, but we were fresh from Seattle so we went anyway and had a good time.  This year the weather was great so we enjoyed it even more.

Cox Farms, Year 2

Last fall we found Cox farms and enjoyed it so we're back again this year.  Technically it's farm #1 for the season but I lump apple picking in this bucket so it's farm #2 as far as I'm concerned. The farm has pumpkins, music, a hay ride, animals and lots of huge slides.

A fun farm time was had by all.

Nationals Night

Every year we try to take Evan to a baseball game.  The regular season is almost over so we hit up the last homestand and watched the Nationals play the Phillies.

As you can see, Jill and Evan are not yet DC residents.  Despite the t-shirt, Evan cheered for both teams (that was when he was watching the game and not asking for food).
