Last weekend we headed out to Park City to see my parents and Aunt Kara and celebrate the 4th. In the summer at Park City mountain there is an alpine slide. I took Evan on it last year (see last year's post for pictures) and was looking forward to doing it again but there was a multiple hour line. Instead we went to the bouncy houses down below. Evan had a blast and climbed further and higher than we thought he would.
We spent a little time in the pool too. Evan didn't swim much but he liked being piggy backed around the pool and splashing me.
We saw some "close fireworks" and boy were they close! We were sitting super close this year and a few little bits of cardboard came down on us. Evan got a bit scared -- when we ask him about his favorite things he did this trip he says "the fireworks" but he also reminds us that we were very close and that it was a bit scary.
Jill started to sing "It's a Grand Old Flag" to Evan a few days before our trip. By Saturday, Evan was leading singalongs. He was also calling every flag he saw a "Grand Old Flag". On the morning of the fourth he was dressed in red, white and blue clothes. Jill asked him what colors he was wearing and he said "red, white and blue -- like a Grand Old Flag!". We went to the fourth of July parade in downtown Park City (Evan had his first snow cone too) and later that evening had a picnic on the lawn of Deer Valley and listened to the orchestra.
It was a weekend packed with events.
