We decided to take a midweek trip with the kids to Leavenworth, Wa. We wanted a break from our usual routine and some quality time with each other. Leavenworth is pretty much deserted this time of year but that's fine by us -- no waiting for a table at restaurants and no crowds. We stayed at the same place we always do - a nice 2 bedroom condo with plenty of room for the four of us. We walked around the village and took a small hike by the river. Evan and Jill walked down a big embankment and threw rocks into the river for a while -- Evan loved that.
We went swimming in the hotel's pool (well, at least Evan and I did) and played in the arcade. Evan got a chance to play "real" ski ball (as opposed to the game on the iPhone) and whack-a-mole.
Our last morning we awoke to a surprise! It had snowed all night and was still snowing. Since Alexis missed going to Park City this year this was her first ever snow.
It was slow going on the drive home but we made it safe and sound. These short family driving trips are very fun - I see more of them in our future.
