Since we're suburban DC residents now we figured we should visit the national Christmas tree. It was a pretty cold evening but we hopped on the Metro (guess who loved that) and walked to the White House. There was a large tree decorated surrounded by model trains. Around the outside was a ring of smaller trees each decorated by (and for) students of each state and territory in the United States. I thought the "big" tree would be bigger than it was. It turns out the original tree fell down in a storm last year and this is the first year for its replacement. It was still exciting to see.
