We had all the grandparents in town this weekend to celebrate Alexis's second birthday a bit early (more on this in the next post). Today we all ventured out to The National Zoo to see some animals. First off, DC traffic is ridiculous. I'm sure I'll learn shortcuts eventually but both ways traffic was so bad I wished we hadn't gone at all. When we did actually show up we had a good time looking at all the animals. The lion and tiger exhibit was great. We saw more 'movement' than we think we've ever seen before from these animals. Alexis seemed to like it.
Alexis found a little froggie friend to play with while we were there.
We saw the zoo's famed Pandas (though we only saw one panda). Very cute. He looked at us for a bit then laid down and either went to sleep or was pretending to. Alexis found a panda to play on too.
We saw a bunch of other animals of course. When asked on the (long) ride home what her favorite was, Alexis replied "the horses". I'm sure we'll be back to the zoo a lot. We're looking forward to seeing the orangutan climb across the "O Line". Until that time, we'll just have to imagine how fun it's going to be to have an orangutan over us.
